THE DIVIDED PEAR ON A CHAIR
THE DIVIDED PEAR ON A CHAIR is an 8X6 limited edition print on heavy paper. For the work I adapted a b&w illustration from Palmer Cox’s book “Queerie Queers with Hands, Wings and Claws.” I added a divided pear and, on the upper left, a picture of the book itself. I was first drawn to the illustration because it looked dangerous and ominous with knives and fire. Turns out, it was a magic trick. Things aren’t always what they seem.
BTW, Palmer Cox said, “ A few preliminary trials will be desirable before attempting to show the experiment in public.”
